If music be the food of love.....Ann and Nick Keep
Ann (soprano) and Nick Keep (tenor) have each been singing with the Royston Choral Society for around 25 years. We asked what singing with the RCS meant for them.
Did music play an important part in bringing you together?
We were both interested in music when we met. Nick used to play the trumpet a lot and then the singing took over. We have similar tastes in music although they differ a bit. We listen to each other’s music and express our opinions freely.
Are there benefits from singing in the same choir?
You’re both in the same place at the same time which is helpful! If one of us is a bit less keen about attending a particular rehearsal, we encourage each other. It’s also useful for practicing together.
What do you like about singing in a choir?
I like listening to other voices alongside my own. It’s also great for de-stressing at the end of the working day.
Do you have a favourite romantic choral piece?
We sang Ubi Caritas by Durufle at a friend’s wedding so that has special meaning.
